PRIMARY SCHOOL IN BILBAO (PAÍS VASCO, SPAIN)

The project arlees from the simple idea of relating the children among them, the old ones with the little ones and vice versa.
Three main educational units are created to achieve that idea, and a "fourth" one sporting (but also containing the offices), more linked to the citizens since it is placed at the same level of the street while the school, trying to get a more private atmosphere, is placed at a higher level. The educational units are placed creating a space among them which will be the playground.
In these units the main thing is the mix of children, and this connection is set up in a visual way thanks to a double height.
This units are built with a load-bearing walls structure of reinforced concrete in the base, finishing in a metallic deck supported by columns that are mixed up with the metalwork.
The whole rest of the program is what gives unit to these autonomous pieces. Here appears a more industrial character (except the canteens), letting the systems exposed, as well as the concrete... helping the child to learn from the building too.
